When I started this exhibition organising lark, many moons ago in the dim and distant
year of 1998 my one driving force was to make our exhibition the biggest possible,
and this year I have finally achieved that ambition. As well as the main hall and
foyer of the Leas Cliff Hall, we know occupy the whole of the Channel Suite, last
year we only occupied one room of the three. Hopefully next year we can maintain
this happy state of affairs and we can remain one of the biggest model railway exhibitions
in Kent.
So what delights have we in store for you this weekend, well we have layouts coming
from distant parts of the U.K, we also have one of our own club layouts, namely “Ashgate”
(Stand 30) which features a computer display showing the destinations of trains on
the layout. (No guarantees to say whether they’ll be on time though!)
We have a vast number of traders, some of which are new to us this year, some traders
of course are regulars and we welcome them all to our show and hope they have a fruitful
exhibition.
Of course an exhibition of this size takes a lot of organising and also needs support
from our sponsors who include Hornby (you can find them outside on the Leas and also
on stand 7) and Fleischmann (Stand 22).
One of our many traditions is to invite you to judge the best layout at the exhibition,
you can obtain voting slips from either of the two information stands (Stands 4 &
44), we have also included a space for you to write your comments on our exhibition,
and the results will be announced on Sunday after around 4pm.
If you need further information on the exhibition, the club or the hobby please do
not hesitate to speak to a club member today.
