2005 Exhibition

Welcome to our 34th annual model railway exhibition, the year has just flown by since the last exhibition, or is it just me? Anyway feel free to soak up the atmosphere of the various layouts attending this year which have come from such far flung corners as Birchington (not so far flung admittedly), York, Birmingham, Bristol, Cirencester and other exotic locations. Don’t forget to have a good look around the many trade stands and please be tempted to purchase some of their wares.

It takes a lot of work to put this exhibition together, in fact it takes about 2-3 years of planning with the final six months becoming almost frantic, we have meetings to attend, sponsorship to arrange, posters to design and print, catering and accommodation to finalise and of course the hardest part of all – trying to think of something to write for this exhibition guide!

Our sponsors of course help us to put on this fine show and we are indebted to Hornby, Fleischmann and Robert Brett & Sons for their continued assistance. Both Hornby (outside and inside the hall) and Fleischmann (inside the hall) are here today so please make sure that you pay them a visit or two.

If you are a regular visitor to our exhibition you will (hopefully) know about our “Best Layout Competition” which gives you the chance to vote for your favourite layout, you can obtain a voting paper from any of the club stands (Pay Desk / Stands 4/8/9 & 40), voting papers can be deposited at these locations as well and also the voting boxes. The results will be announced on Sunday afternoon.

If looking at the wonderful layouts has given you a taste and you want to learn more please phone our club secretary on 01303 239889, contact us on our website : www.geocities.com/fhdmrc or have a chat to a club member today.

Next years exhibition is on 7-8th October 2006 – see you there! (Subject to a nervous breakdown of course!)
